painted en plein air 7/7/2016
I wanted to capture the vineyard and house as they appear in the winter here in Hermanus and the atmospheric perspective. As the sun began to set, the shadows became more interesting and the light appeared warmer. Luckily I finished before the sun dipped below the mountains because the temperature drops quickly.

Christopher Reid is an international artist painting in pastel, watercolor, and acrylic. He paints everything from portraits, landscapes, wildlife, and pets in his contemporary realist style. His art has won numerous international awards. He travels all over the world painting en plein air as often as possible, exhibiting, and sharing his passion for art with others through teaching workshops. Born in Johannesburg, South Africa, Chris studied art at the Savannah College of Art & Design(Savannah, GA). He lives in Hermanus, South Africa, inspired by the local landscapes, people, and wildlife. At an early age Chris wanted to be a comic book illustrator.
